The Tales of the Valiant Kickstarter is still rolling along, and they just broke 4,800 backers and $400,000. This is strong support, and the future looks promising for this game.
We are in the final 4 days, so this is the last week to jump in.
A 5E version with the complete game in an SRD (unlike the 5.1 SRD, which is not the entire game) ensures 100% future-proof compatibility and allows others to fork the game should the parent company do horrible things. I doubt that with Kobold Press, but this is a mark and bond of trust between a company and its players that is worth noting.
30+ years from now, we can play the FULL version of this Open 5E implementation.
With D&D, we will all have an incomplete SRD in the Creative Commons.
Like Linux and many 4th generation B/X implementations, having the complete source code to a game that is free and open to use is essential to building today's games and ones in the future.
We got screwed in the OGL mess.
Never again.
