Off the Shelf: Dungeon Crawl Classics

Well, that did not stay in storage long.

There are times I put games in storage to see if I miss them, and, well, I missed this one.

I felt other games could do what Dungeon Crawl Classics could, but it was not the same. There is a stupid fun to this game, a rando-dungeon experience that few other games have. Yes, this is a tribute band to classic gaming, but they are a good one with a lot of heart. Just hearing them play brings a smile to my face.

It doesn't need a computerized character sheet either; just a half-page will fit everything you need. These days, 5E struggles under its own weight with a million options and combinations thrown together in a million different ways. It is great to have the options, but it sucks when you realize you are tied to a platform just to create characters for a game that is supposed to be fun and straightforward.

DCC is that game.
