Another cool book arrived in the mail today, the hardcover for Beyond the Supernatural. I like the hardcovers for these games, the base books are nicely done and will sit proudly on my shelf - and yes, even be played. I am avoiding buying Rifts - for now - and concentrating on the supporting universe games to collect and read the base books from.
I am going under the assumption Rifts never happened in my "Palladium Prime" universe, to begin with, and giving the supporting games a chance to shine on their own.
If there was ever a game where X-Files met Ghostbusters met Call of Cthulhu met some TV show that never existed called "Psychic Action Force" this game would be it. You play any one of those character types, plus normal people if you want, and have adventures hunting supernatural threats and solving mysteries.
There are a lot of psychic character classes with different abilities, sort of based around differing psychic power tropes, and even a skeptic who uses psychic power to deny psychic power exists. There are even Ghostbuster-type characters, and if you wanted to pull in X-Files-type agents they would fit in here too. Also, any other Palladium character from the other books would fit into this game and be able to play alongside the investigators. So yes, you could be a ninja. Or a ninja mutant aardvark.
More soon on this, but this is a game I overlooked back in the day and I am happy to have a copy.
