Shipped: Ashes Without Number

My Ashes Without Number Kickstarter book has shipped, and the PDFs are here. What a fantastic game, another in the outstanding ...Without Number series of games from Kevin Crawford. This one is post-apocalyptic, and it has generators and campaign ideas flowing out of every page. This one outdoes so many other end-of-the-world games, or it can be used right alongside them as the world creation system.

And the rules are the same as the other games in the series, so there is nothing new to learn here, and it all works just as you would expect. The one-page rules summary is back, and this is one of the easiest games to play and teach. The system is also compatible with any set of B/X rules, so you can pull up Old School Essentials classes and monsters, and drop them right into your games.

Any of the games. Science fiction. Cyberpunk. Fantasy. And now, post-apocalyptic.

No websites for character creation are needed, which is a relief given what we are going through with 5E. I'm tired of paying for character creation tools and digital books for character creation sites.

It is a fantastic book, and I can't wait for the hardcover to get here.

What is next...? I know Stars Without Number lacks the new combat rules introduced in Cities and is one of the older games in the line, so is a refresh coming for that? Are we getting another genre? A "double-oh" game set in the classic era of spies? A Noir or gangster game? An eldritch horror game? A vampire and werewolves modern-world horror game?

This is one of the best series in gaming, and a few beautiful hardcover books can replace an entire library of lesser games, and work with anything OSR you have on your shelf.

The world is an endless place...
